Do your products contain fragrances?

Virtue®️’s products utilize “functional fragrances”, which are a combination of natural essential oils and synthetic compounds.  The natural essential oils, although not certified organic or necessarily always wildcrafted, have benefits that support / complement the specific product benefits and hair type / hair goals / hair concerns.  The reason for the combination of natural essential oils and synthetic compounds is twofold.  First, essential oils are not necessarily less irritating than synthetic fragrances; the balancing of the two allows the perfumer to minimize any potential for irritation.  Secondly, synthetics in fragrances allow the perfumer to achieve a broader spectrum of notes and accords for more elevated, signature and complex scents.

All of Virtue®️’s products undergo both skin irritation testing and eye irritation testing (all non-animal testing) prior to launch to ensure the lowest propensity for skin, scalp or eye irritation.  That said, if you are very sensitive to fragrance in terms of allergy, we would advise that you confer with your Dermatologist prior to purchase and use for their guidance as to whether you should seek out fragrance free hair care products (which Virtue®️ does not currently offer at this time).  We would also suggest that, if you do purchase Virtue®️ products after consulting with your Dermatologist, you perform a “patch” test applying a small amount on your wet forearm, rinse thoroughly and wait 24 hours before use.
